Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Storm Stream when you use the site, the app, or the API. We have written them in plain language. Storm Stream is a weather-intelligence product operated as a Vyan product. By using Storm Stream, you agree to these terms.
Storm Stream is provided "as is" and is NOT a life-safety service. Never rely on it for emergency or life-safety decisions. Data can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and the service can be unavailable. When severe weather threatens, always follow the official warnings from the National Weather Service and the instructions of your local emergency services.
01What Storm Stream is
Storm Stream is a weather-intelligence product. It provides severe-weather event data, alerts, street-level maps, reports, and an API, built on live data from the United States National Weather Service (NWS) and NOAA. There is a free tier and paid tiers, described in section 04.
02Not a life-safety service
This point matters enough to repeat. Storm Stream is provided "as is" and "as available". It is an information and business tool, not an emergency-alerting or life-safety system. Data can be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and the service can be unavailable. Do not use Storm Stream to make decisions about personal safety. In severe weather, the official National Weather Service warnings and your local emergency services are the authority. Follow them.
03Your account
You are responsible for the information you give us and for keeping your login and any API keys secure. Tell us at support@stormstream.io if you think your account or a key has been compromised. To buy a paid plan, you must be able to form a binding contract.
04Plans, pricing, and auto-renewal
Storm Stream offers these plans:

Paid subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose, at the price in effect when you subscribed, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize Storm Stream, through Stripe, to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period. Prices may change for future billing periods, and we will give you notice before a change affects you. A locked founding rate stays as described above.
05Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel any time, in one click, from your account. Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep access to the paid features until the end of the period you already paid for.
We do not automatically refund partial billing periods. If you were charged in error, or something is wrong with your bill, email support@stormstream.io and we will correct it.
06Using the API
API access is metered by API key and is subject to rate limits and spend caps. Keep your key secret; you are responsible for calls made with it. You may use the data in your own products and workflows. You may not resell or redistribute the raw Storm Stream feed, in whole or in substantial part, without a written agreement with us. Abuse of the API, including attempts to exceed your limits, evade metering, or overload the service, may lead to throttling or suspension.
07Acceptable use
Use Storm Stream lawfully and reasonably. Do not:
- break the law with it;
- attempt to break, probe, or overload the service or its security;
- scrape or bulk-extract beyond your plan;
- misrepresent the data as an official government warning; or
- use it to harm others.
We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms.
08Intellectual property
Storm Stream, its software, its design, and its compiled and normalized data products are owned by us or our licensors. Using the service does not transfer that ownership to you. The underlying public weather data from the National Weather Service and NOAA is United States government data. Reports and outputs you generate for your own business use are yours to use for that purpose.
09Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Storm Stream is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that the data will be accurate or complete.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Storm Stream and Vyan will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost business, or damages arising from your reliance on the data or from any decision made using it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid Storm Stream in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you are on the free tier. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
11Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Storm Stream is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts located there, unless the law gives you a right you cannot waive.
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top and, for material changes, give notice by email or on the site. If you keep using Storm Stream after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
